David Wellbery is Leroy T. and Margaret Deffenbaugh Carlson University Professor in the Department of Germanic Studies. His primary research interests are in Literature and Philosophy, History of Aesthetics and Literary Theory; Poetics, Narratology, and Theory of Form. These interests converge on the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries — the Age of Goethe or the Age of Idealism — and on the ramifications for contemporary thought unleashed by the epistemological revolution of that period.
