Graduate Student Fellowships and Funding

All students admitted to our PhD program receive fellowships providing full tuition payment, University health insurance, and support beyond tuition (either stipend or a combination of stipend and teaching salary) amounting to $20,000 per year for each of the first five years in the program.  Additionally, summer stipends are available. The precise terms of your admission and aid package will be communicated to you upon admission to the Department. For information about the terms governing your acceptance of our offer of admission and aid to you, click here (PDF).

Additional information about graduate student financial aid packages is available here on the Dean of Students website.

There are additional funding packages for students in the 6th year and beyond, including department-awarded Dissertation Year fellowships, Divisional fellowships and external fellowships. Note that application deadlines for some external fellowships may be much earlier than deadlines for internal dissertation-year fellowships.
