Dissertation and Final Oral Exam

The final oral examination should take place by the end of the sixth year at the latest. When the Dissertation Committee judges that the dissertation is ready, it requests a final oral examination (PDF)

Before taking the final exam, a student should submit, to the Departmet Administrator:

• 15 copies of a 10-page abstract of the dissertation and
• one copy of the complete dissertation

An exam cannot be scheduled for at least two weeks after the Dissertation Committee's formal request and the candidate's materials have been submitted.
